Self Portrait

Meanwhile Mr.Ernesto my lecturer for Figure drawing gave us our 1st assignment. Which is known as the "SELF PORTRAIT"  To make an expressive drawing of myself that becomes something more than just likeness by introducing symbolic images of objects, dream like music instruments, fruits, insects, bears, mechanic tools or multiple images or by suggesting aspects of an environment such as the interior of a room or automobile.

We were asked to analyze small rough sketches to explore com-positional variations before beginning the large drawing.

Here are the sketches I drew:

Mr.Ernesto suggested to go with the sketch I like the most.I chose the last one above. He said good but as it was going to be drawn on an A1 paper it would look plain so he suggested to come up with a background design.

So I came up with a floral background design

Lantern Designs

Ms Lisa asked us to come up with some ideas for the lanterns. We all discussed and came up with an idea.That is, as there are so many ethnics here and different ethnic have different styles,so we were divided into 4 groups again. They re the Indians,Chinese, Malays and the Minorities. I was in the Indian group and was also the leader of the group. There were 7 members in my group including myself. We were asked to sketch some Indian designs and show it Ms.Lisa on the next tutorial class. I gave ideas to my members and asked them to sketch as many as they can.

Canvas

Since I was in the blue group Ms.Lisa asked us to bring samples on how we were going to paint on the canvas.. I did some research and came up with my own idea! Canvas paintings were supposed to be done in the form of Abstract.

Lantern Designs: Continuation

Ms.Lisa liked our sketches and was impressed about it. But she said as we are going to cut stencils for the lanterns will it be easy for us to cut out these designs. We also started to think about it. Didn't realize about it till she asked us. Later she said to do more sketches but not detail as we did before...So i researched and got some ideas and shared few ideas with my group members too..Ms.Lisa liked me sketch this time and approved them. She asked me to cut stencils using those designs..
