Third Semester Final Project

HENNA MADE

Henna Made is the name of my cafe, which was my final project for the Interior Design Project 3rd Semester.
the first phase was to do precedent studies on cafes that had Hybrid Services and I did find few interesting ones.

1st Presentation Board for the first Pin Up
The first one above is Chin Chin Laboratories in Camden. An ice cream parlour owned by two couples.
Second one is The Clinic in Singapore designed by Architect Damien Hirst

These two Precedent studies inspired me to find a cool hybrid service that would go along with the food that was going to be served to the customers in my cafe.

And this new trendy and Arabic style henna design inspired me a lot,I thought why not have applying  henna as my hybrid service.

Later on I was wondering what could I serve in my cafe while henna is being applied to the customer's hands, feet or shoulders. While researching I found out some delicious and beautiful cakes and cookies. They didn't look like the ordinary normal cakes and cookies but ........

Now doesn't that look Beautiful as well as Delicious .....!!

With the above idea  I came up with the branding products, logo and name of my cafe.

10 OUT OF 20

For our semester break, we were given a task where we have to sketch 20 detailing drawings based on our Interior Design Projects II Hybrid -Cafe Project. We were told to visit different cafes and sketch 10 interesting and unique built-in or loose furniture and 10 interior elements of floor, wall and ceiling.

This was good chance to go on a cafe hunting. So the cafes I visited were The Library Cafe at Sunway Pyramid, Garage 51 at Bandar Sunway, Wood and Steel Cafe and so on....

As per asked I will be posting here about 10 of my favourite sketches..............

Individual Task - Wardrobe

A detail drawing of a wardrobe. This wardrobe is in my room and I chose it to draw for this assignment. As you can see there are 2 drawers and a shelf. The hinges are connected to the doors of the cupboard. The wardrobe is quite big enough to store my clothes and other stuff. Day by day I and my classmates are learning on new details of the furnitures which is making the subject interesting as-well as we all are gaining useful knowledge being in this field.

Built In Furnitures

At class today we learnt about furnitures. There are two types of furnitures
1.Loose Furnitures
2. Built in Furnitures

Since we did drawings on Built in furnitures, let me talk about it.
Built-ins are a very special type of furniture. They could be considered the opposite of free-standing furniture. The main characteristic of built-in furniture is that is allows you to create that smooth transition between spaces and that coherent décor that makes your home feel airy.Built-in furniture looks like a part of the house itself and this allows it to beautifully blend in for an overall minimalist appearance.

At class today we were given a group task. Our lecturer asked us to to bring different angle pictures of a built in furniture. One of my group member took a picture of her built in closet for this task. Then the  lecturer told us that each person in the group should equally be given a work to do,so we divided our work among ourselves. I had to draw the section of the built in closet. I did draw a rough sketch and showed it to my lecturer. She said that I haven't drawn few details of the furniture.Later she showed me how to draw the details and I was really shocked and amazed of the drawing as those few minute details that were missing in my drawing were the major important ones in a detail drawing. It was very challenging and mind blowing. Learning something different to improve in our work was pretty amazing. Today's class was very very good indeed and not only me everyone were really happy with the work we did today.

Detail Drawing Specification

I am in my second year at Taylor's University Malaysia Studying Bachelor of Arts in Interior Architecture.Detail Drawing Specification is one of my subject for this semester. Our lecturer asked us to carry everyday to class a sketch book which is going to be very useful to us now as well as later.
Why is it going to be useful?
You all will get to know when I post every week a drawing in this blog.

For now;
Detail Drawing - A detailed drawing is a type of drawing that gives all the dimensions, fabrication                                  methods and all type of materials required to manufacture the article.
Detail Drawing is called as a Detailed Assembly Drawing as-well.
